Combinatorial model for chemotherapy “cocktails”

When a number of chemotherapy drugs are used for treating cancer, they must work well together, and be mixed in the right proportions. A new model developed by Prof. Uri Alon  makes it easier to predict which drug combinations will be the most effective. Requiring only a small number of measurements on drug pairs, the new approach performs better than existing methods for analyzing complex drug combinations.  This is good news for personalized medicine, an approach in which specific drug cocktails are concocted to match the needs of individual cancer patients.
